For those who love a mix of rodeo and winter sports, the Leadville Annual SkiJoring event is the perfect adrenaline-filled experience. Since 1949, this unique festival has taken place in Colorado’s highest incorporated city and will return for its 78th year on March 1st and 2nd. This annual event is family-friendly for all ages and free to attend and register, making it a popular event, so if you’re thinking of making a weekend out of it, book your accommodations early! Furthermore, for safety reasons, no dogs are allowed at the event, so plan accordingly if you’re thinking of bringing fido.

Saturday and Sunday kick off at 8 a.m. with a pancake breakfast at the Elks Lodge, which runs until noon, with the Calcutta event starting at 9:30 a.m. The skiJoring competition officially begins at “high noon” starting with the Open/Sport Divisions, followed by the Snowmobile Division. The day wraps up with an awards ceremony at the Elks Lodge, live music and dancing! Whether you’re competing or watching, the excitement is truly captivating!

Insider note- Leadville’s weather isn’t for the faint of heart, sitting at the highest elevation, this town knows winter- dressing appropriately is essential! My advice? Pack layers! The more the merrier:)

DENVER ST. PATRICK’S DAY PARADE

Saturday I March 15 I 9:30AM Downtown Denver

Get this: Denver’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade is one of the largest in the nation, attracting nearly half a million spectators to the downtown area! If you’ve never been, this year is a must— the parade is an unforgettably exuberant festival filled with a whole lot of magic!

Now in its 60th year, the parade has grown into a major celebration, with people often arriving early to secure the best viewing spots (I’ve heard 6am early!). This year, the parade will take place on Saturday the 15th, starting at 9:30 sharp at 19th and Wynkoop and then heading down 17th street, continuing north along Blake Street, and ending at 27th.

Dating back to its first event in 1889, the Denver St. Patrick’s day is rich with history, but has been modernized quite a bit since the gas lamps era. During the parade, you can expect to see colorful floats, dance performances, lively music, local charities and celebrities. While you can easily find green beer at nearby bars, food and drink aren’t provided during the parade, so be sure to grab a bite beforehand or at one of the local spots along the route. A unique tradition includes the green-painted strip along Blake Street, the infamous annual changing of the Blake Street sign to “Tooley Street” in honor of former district attorney Dale Tooley, and the beloved St. Patty’s Day Pub Crawl that starts promptly at 12:00pm at Alpha Charlie’s Tap & Tavern (tickets are required). If you can’t attend in person, the parade will also be live-streamed on Facebook. Rain or shine, the parade is on! Grab your green, slap on some sparkles and shamrocks and let’s celebrate!

Visit the link below for the parade route, pub crawl tickets, to enter or sponsor the parade, and much more!
